Pete #1 - 9.6.22

$300.00

Watercolour paint on 300gsm watercolour paper. 297mm x 420mm.

June 9th, 2022, was another chemotherapy day for Pete, a day he always dreaded. Errol and I drove him to the hospital, as we did on so many other days. Pete insisted I never bring Errol into the hospital ward; it was too much for him to bear. So, I would take Errol for long walks around North Melbourne, the time stretching out as I waited for Pete to finish his treatment.

Those walks were my refuge—an opportunity to breathe, to reflect, and to hold space for the weight of what Pete was enduring. Outside the hospital, with Errol by my side, I could momentarily escape the overwhelming reality of his illness. But it was always just a temporary pause. Each step was a quiet reminder of the life we were trying to preserve, the life we were fighting for, even as the days grew more difficult.

It was during these moments of waiting that I found a kind of stillness—a place where love, fear, and hope could coexist. A place to be present, even in the midst of uncertainty.

100% of the profits of this painting will be donated to Tour De Cure - an organisation in Australia dedicated to cancer research.
