Pete #19 - 29.10.22
Watercolour paint on 300gsm watercolour paper. 297mm x 420mm.
29th of October, 2022, we had planned a celebration for Errol’s first birthday. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the party and instead, kept the celebration small, just with family. Pete, though incredibly weak, was determined to leave the hospital and join us, all for Errol. He took this photo during the car ride from the hospital. At that point, he could only manage a few hours out, as his energy was nearly gone. This was the last self-portrait he took. The sadness in his eyes in this image will stay with me forever, alongside the memory of his incredible determination to experience some sense of normalcy, even if just for a short while.
100% of the profits of this painting will be donated to Tour De Cure - an organisation in Australia dedicated to cancer research.
